The book takes place during the French and Indian war. The French are trying to gain control of the fort of William Henry. Fort William Henry was commanded by Munro who had two daughters, Alice and Cora. -

They traveled from Fort Edward to search for their father. They were guided by Huron Indians who names were Magua and Major Heyward. But, the journey didn’t go as expected. -

They meet a religious man named Gamut; a white Indian, Hawkeye and some of the people who he commanded who were Chingachgook and Uncas. -

The problem begins when Hawkeye (the main Mohican) blames Magua for leading Alice and Cora in the wrong direction during their quest. It leads to a short battle, by the time of the battle the Huron’s kidnaps Alice Cora, Heyward and Gamut. -

Cora has love and compassion for Uncas, but is threatened by Magua to marry Magua instead of Uncas. If Cora marries Uncas, her sister Alice will be set free. -

The Mohicans soon return and they kill all the Huron’s, except Magua because he soon escapes. -

Cora and Alice finally arrive to Fort William Henry where the can finally reunite with their father. -

The English declare a state of peace between the two societies, but racial tensions are still around. Another blood battle immediately begins and Magua steals Alice and Cora again. -

The Mohicans look around for Magua’s footprints. They follow the footsteps which leads them to the girls who were placed in a different camp background. -

When they arrive at the Delaware camp where Cora is located, the others that were at the other camp were able to get Alice. -

Uncas then reveals himself and tells about his origins as the last of the Mohicans and decides to give Cora to Magua. -

The last battle occurs, in the battles they were brutal. Cora, Magua ad Uncas all die in the battle. Moments later there is a burial ceremony for celebration for Magua, Cora and Uncas who had lost their life in the battle. People went through tough times, they mourned about the last of the Mohicans.
