A religious man named Gamut. a white hunter; Hawkeye, Chingachgook and his son Uncas come along. Magua was the one to lead them and the daughters in the wrong direction instead of going to Fort William Henry

The Fort William Henry was guided by Munro, who had 2 daughters Alice and Cora. Alica and Cora were guided by the Huron Indian Magua and the hunter Heyward.

Magua pretends to guide the Munro sisters (Cora & Alice) towards Fort William Henry, but actually leads them in the other direction.

While Magua led them into the wrong direction, a battle occurs.

He runs away when found out. Magua comes back to capture the sisters. He asks Cora to marry him

Hawkeye and his Indian friends reappear in time to hunt down Magua, who has taken the sisters captive. Hawkeye uses a bear disguise to infiltrate the Huron camp, where the sisters are being held.

Magua shows up in the cavern where Heyward is about to free Alice. Hawkeye ties him up. He is freed a few hours later after.
Magua heads to the neighboring Delaware encampment to collect Cora. -
Magua convinces the Delaware to give him Cora. Magua asks Cora twice whether she would like to become his wife or die.Hawkeye joins in the quest to save Cora.

Uncas then reveals himself and tells about his origins as the last of the mohicans and decided to give Cora to Magua

Heawkeye is too late to prevent both Cora and Uncas's deaths, but he kills Magua. Hawkeye consoles Chingachgook at Uncas's funeral.
