Kathleen Kane begins to call for an investigation into whether former Governor Tom Corbett intentionally slowed the prosecution of Jerry Sandusky for political reasons. On September 27th, she publicy states that she believes "Tom Corbett probably played the politics of the Sandusky trial."

Kathleen Kane is inaugurated as the first female Attorney General in the history of Pennsylvania. To continue her investigation of Corbett and Sandusky, she hires H. Geoffrey Moulton to investigate the case's handling.

Moulton releases his report which mildly critiques some of Corbett's decisions on the case. Two months later, Brad Bumsted and Melissa Daniels of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review announce that Moulton's report reveals numerous sexually explicit emails found within the office of the Attorney General.
