    The Lotus Eaters

    The Lotus Eaters
    After leaving from Troy, Odysseus and his crew land on the island of the Lotus Eaters. There, they discover a tribe of people who sit around all day, infatuated by a plants nectar that makes them constantly happy. Odysseus then has to drag some of his men back onto the ship because they tasted the nectar and no longer want to return home.

    The Giant, Polyphemus

    The Giant, Polyphemus
    After departing from the Lotus Eaters, Odysseus and his crew sail to the island of the cyclops. There, they venture into the cave of the mighty Polyphemus, son of Posiden. Polyphemus then traps them in his cave and eats some of the men. Odysseus and som eof his crew later escape with a genius plan. They stab him in his single eye while he is sleeping, then ride out on the belly of his sheep in the morning. However, Odysseus taunts the giant by telling him his name.

    King Aeolus

    King Aeolus
    After escaping from Polyphemus, the ships manage to reach the island of King Aeolus. King Aeolus has been given the power to controll the winds of the Earth by the gods. He then puts the North, South, and East winds into a bag and gives it to Odysseus, leaving only the West wind to blow them home. However, one of Odysseus's crew memebers opens the bag and it blows them back to the island. King Aeolus then refuses to help hime again because he dosn't want to interfere with the God's plan.

    Island of the Laestrygonians
    Soon after leaving King Aeolus, Odysseus's crew land sail into the port of the island of the Laestrygonians. There, they are bombarded by rocks from the canniable Laestrygonian people. Only the ship with Odysseus on it escapes

    The Witch Circe

    The Witch Circe
    Barely alive, Odysseus and his remaining crew members stumble onto the island of Circe. Circe si a minor goddess who takes pleasure in turning her guests into animals. She procedes to turn Odysseus's scouting party into a herd of pigs. With some help from the mesenger God Hermes, Odysseus is able to save his men, Circe then tells Odysseus to go to Hades to figure out why he is a being punished by the gods.

    The Underworld.
    Departing from Circe, Odysseus and his men sail to the underworld to find out why the gods are mad at him, There, Odysseus talks to the dead propeht Teiresias, along with fallen comrades and dead family members. He finds out from Teiresias that Posiden is angy with Odysseus for blinding his son Polyphemus. He also tells him a way to get home safely.

    Return to Circe
    After they finished in the Underworld, Odyssues and his men went back to Circe to bury a soilder who had died there but hadn't been buried. There, Circe warned them of the dangers ahead, ostly about the Sirens. Odysseus stocked up on provisions, and sailed off.

    The Song of The Sirens
    On his way home, Odysseus had to sail by the wicked sirens. The Sirens were a group of half bird, half woman monsters that lived on a rocky shore. They would sing a song so beautiful, that sailors passing by who heard it would sail their ship into the rocks and die. To avoid this, Odysseus filled his men's ears with wax so that they could not hear the song. He then had his crew tie him to the mast of the ship, so he didn't jump overboard, because he wanted to hear their song.

    Charybdis
    Charybdis was a giant whirlpool that was located next to Scylla. It would suck everything during some parts of the day, and spit everything back out during others. Odysseus chose to avoid Charybdis instead of Scllay because Charybdis would destroy his entire ship.

    Scllya
    In order to get haome, Odysseus had to pass through the isle of Scylla and Charybdis. Scllya was a sea monster who used to be a beautiful goddess, but was turned into a monster by Circe because she loved the same man as him. Odysseus had to choose whether to sail closer to her or Charybdis. He ultimately chose Scllay because she would only be able to kill six of his men rather then all of them.

    Helios' Cattle
    When Odysseus was almost home, h and his crew decided to land on an island to spend the night. This Island was were the sun god Helios kept his pet cattle. After they landed onthe shore, a great fog rolled in and kept them there for months. Odysseus had warned his men not to eat the cattle, but they got so sick of seafood and vegtables that they ate them anyways. Helios asked Zeus to blow up Odysseus' ship. Only Odyssues' life was spared.

    Odysseus floats back to Charybdis
    After his ship was blown to bits, Odysseus floated around the sea for a couple of days. He was eventually sucked back into the isle of Scllya and Charybdis by Cahrybdis's current. He survived by reaching up, and grabbing a branch from a fig tree that was hanging overhead. He stayed there until Charybdis started its explusion cycle.

    Calypso
    After a month of floating, Odysseus washed up on the island of Calypso. Calypso was a beautiful demi-god who lived on an island in the middle of the ocean. When she found Odysseus, she fell madly in love with hime. However, she was rejected by him, even when she offered to make him a god. Odysseus stayed with Calypso for seven years.

    Odysseus leaves Calypso
    After seven years, the messenger god Hermes came down from Mt. Olympos with a message from the gods. The gods had decided that it was time to let Odysseus return home so he could die in his native land. Even though Calypso was extremely irate over this, she had no choice. No one was to defy the gods. She then procedded to give Odysseus tools to make a boat, and when he left, gave him food and drink. This would be the last she would ever see of the great adventurer. Odysseus was back on the road.

    Posiden destroys Odysseus's raft
    While Odysseus was sailing home, he was spotted by Posiden. Enraged that Odysseus was being allowed to go home, Posiden cast a great storm that smashed Odysseus's ship to bits. Floating int he middle of the ocean, a sea nymph came to Odysseus and helped him reach the shore.

    After ten days, Odysseus landed on the shores of the Phaceacians. There, he met the kings daughter, who took him to her father. He stayed with the royal family for a couple days, until they asked about hime and where he had come from. When they heard his story, they were filled with great compassion. They promised to take him home the next day.

    After sailing for two months, the Phaeacian ship had finally reached Ithica, the home of Odysseus. When they got there, Odysseus was sleeping. They decided to unload him of the boat while he was still sleeping, leaving him with gold and other preciuous metals around his bed. After this, the began their journey home.

    While Odysseus was away, many people thought that he was dead. Therefore, suitors came from all over Ithica and everywhere else came to try and wo his wife into marrying them. However, she remained strong and would not marry any of them. When Odysseus saw all of them, he knew he would need help getting rid of them. The god Athena diguised him as an old man, and he met with his old swine herd and his son Telemachos. These would be ht eonly two that would fight with him aganist his suitors

    Just before things were about to go down, the head god Zeus sent one of his fiery thunderbolts down to the spot where they were going to fight, Seeing this, the suitors' families went away. Odysseus adventure finally over

    Odysseus slaughters the suitors.
    After a few days, Odysseus finally decided to attack. He got the suitors (still not knowing who he was) drunk on wine, and took all of their wepons. Then he, his son, and the swine herd sprang on the suitors, sparing only the truly innocent. Word got out about what happened. The suitors families soon came up to see what had happened. Whent they saw their dead sons, they wanted to fight aganist Odysseus!

    Posiden destroys the Phaeacian ship

    Posiden destroys the Phaeacian ship
    Furious with the Phaeacians, Poseidon decided to punish them for taking Odysseus home. When the ship that returned Odysseus came into the harbor, he turned it into stone. Terrified by this, the Phaecian King ordered everyone to stop what they were doing and pray to Poseidon. Poseidon ultimately decided to spare the mainland.
