    The end of the golden age of piracy was ushered in by Charles Vane, a former privateer and then goverenor of Jamaca offered all pirates a pardon, return to England or be hung by the neck. Most pirates took the pardon but people like Blackbeard amd Charles Vane were killed by the Navy.
  • First Fleet Arrives at Botany Bay

    First Fleet Arrives at Botany Bay
    Eleven ships captained by Arthur Phillip arrive at Botany Bay with 1,350 people which included convicts, soldiers and settlers an area owned by the Aboriginal people which had been claimed for the King of Engaland by James Cook. Upon arrival the colonials were based in an area with poor soil and relied on trading foods with local Aboriginal mobs.
  • The Formation of Luddite

    Due to the introduction of machinary caused many job losses causing the formation of Luddite. Luddites destroyed machineary in Lancashire, even fighting the authorities to gain back their jobs. British soldiers would be fighting Luddite aswell as Napoleon.
  • Battle of Waterloo

    The Battle of Waterloo was fought between the French Generel Napoleon Bonaparte and the British Army. Bonaparte had been exiled on the Mediterranean island of Elba for the past couple of years. The British were victorious and exiled Bonaparte to the Atlantic Island of St Helena where he died on the 5th May 1821.

    The inventor of Morse Code aswell as the electric telegraph, Samuel Morse demonstrates a code that can be used to transport messages long-reange over wires. An iconic moment in communications history happened in 1844 Morse demonstrated the telegaph infront of congress which he sent the messge "What hath God wrought" from Washington to Baltimore.

    Samuel Colt invented the first revolver, a type of pistol with revolving chambers allowing several shots to be fired without reloading. This was revolutionary because normal flintlock pistols could only store one bullet at a time. Samuel Colt's gun company is still a buisness today.

    The Beginning of the American Civil War
    Due to the division of states within America and the election of Abrham Licholn caused 11 southern states to establish the Confederate States of America, beginning the Civil War. The war was fought for four years killing 620,000 soldiers. During the war in 1863 Abraham Licholn issued an Emancipation Proclamation freed all slaves in Condederate states causing most African American slaves to join the Northern Army.

    Brooklyn Bridge Construction Begins
    The construction of the first suspension bridge in the United States which spanned from Manhattan to Brooklyn. The bridge was the longest bridge when first completed measuring in at 1.8 kilometres long. The bridge was important for alloowing Manhattan to expand, allowing workers to walk or drive over from their houses in Brooklyn to Manhattan.

    Karl Benz invented the first "Motor Carriage" which included a 4 stroke Engine and three wheels. Three years after inventing the car he began selling it to the public.
  • Opening of the Eiffel Tower

    Opening of the Eiffel Tower
    The Eiffel Twoer the tallest structure at the time is made opened to the public. Named after its engineer Gustave Eiffel stands at a height of 324 metres. The tower held the record of the tallest structure for 41 years until the Chrysler Building was built in 1930.

    Felix Hoffman invents a chemically satble substance called acetylsalicylic acid or more commonly known as aspirin. After many tests Hoffman discovered that aspirin can be used to relieve pain, lower fever and anti-inflammatory. Hoffman besides creating Aspirin also created Heroin.

    After two failed attempts of flying their 700 pound flyer for 12 seconds. The next flyer made by the Wright brothers flew for over 5 minutes.
