What influenced the development of hydrogen bomb?
Soviet showed their success in cold war by performing first atomic bomb test on 29th August 1949. When United States heard this news it made its way to produce even more powerful bomb called hydrogen bomb. Edward teller urged the idea idea of 'super' bomb or hydrogen bomb. Rabi opposed the idea of development of Hydrogen bomb because hydrogen bomb is a 1000 times powerful and more destructive than an atomic bomb. Besides the destruction caused by hydrogen bomb can be unlimited. on the other hand Edward Teller and other scientist supported the development of hydrogen bomb. Finally in 1950, president Truman granted permission to continue to work on deellopment of H-bomb. -
The First hydrogen bomb, Mike
United States was the first country to detonate an H-bomb. It was called 'Mike'. First H bomb was exploded at a test site on Eniwetok atoll in the Marshall islands in the Pacific. It created a mushroom cloud that was 8 miles across and 27 miles high. Radioactive particles fell from the explosion. -
Soviet's first hydrogen bomb
Soviet exploded its first thermonuclear bomb at the Semipalatinsk test site in northern Kazakhstan on 12th August 1953. It produced a total of 400 kilotons of energy. -
Castle Bravo
United States coducted its largest nuclear test, named Castle Bravo, on Bikini Atoll in Marshall islands on 1st march 1954. Due to a design error, the explosion produced 15 megatons of energy, two and a half times larger than expected. This explosion turned out to e 1000 times more powerful and destructive than Hiroshima bomb. -

Grapple X was the first thermonuclear test of Great Britain. It was part of a test series, which involved nine explosions that occured between november1957 and september 1958 over Christmas Island (Kiritimati) and Malden Island in the central Pacific Ocean. -
Tsar Bomba
Tsar Bomba was produced and tested by soviet over Novaya Zemlya Island in the Russian Arctic Sea on 30th october 1961. The explosion of Tsar Bomba resulted in 50 megaton energy. It was 3800 times powerful than Hiroshima bomb. It was the largest nuclear weapon ever built in the world.
