History of the IPhone
The first concept for an iPhone type device came about in 2000 when Apple worker John Casey sent an idea of art around via internal email, Casey called it the Telipod-- a telephone and iPod combination. This idea evolved into the IPhone that we are familiar with today. Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs directed Apple's engineers to develop a touchscreen, smartphone. At first, he was considering an Apple tablet computer, but that desire eventually manifested in the IPad. -
Apple Phones
Released on September 7th, 2005, the first Apple phone was the ROKR E1. However, the phone was an Apple and Motorola collaboration. The Apple team was not happy with Motorola's contributions. Within a year, Apple discontinued support for the ROKR. On January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs announced the new iPhone at the Macworld convention. On June 29, 2007, Apple began selling the new iPhone. -
What's So Special About the IPhone?
Jonathan Ive is heavily credited with the aesthetic design and look of the iPhone. The iPhone was the first smartphone that had no hard keypad for dialing, it was entirely a touchscreen device, and the iPhone's touchscreen technology was groundbreaking with multi-touch controls, more than select, you could scroll and zoom as well.Basically, the design of the IPhone is what caught people's eyes. -
Background
On June 29th, 2007, the Apple Company released a new touchscreen smartphone, the IPhone. Over 200 people were part of the design for the first IPhone, but one person brought the IPhone into existence. -
SIRI
The first IPhone with a voice-activated personal assistant, Siri, was the IPhone 4S. Siri is a piece of artificial intelligence that can do numerous tasks for the user, and Siri can learn and adapt to better serve that user. -
Apple Today
The IPhone 10 was released on Apple's 10-year anniversary. It is water resistant. It has glass on the front and back of it. It is also without a home button. It is 5.8 inches.
