The first pair of jeans not only came in denim but started with a material called duck. Duck did noy get as soft as denim and so it was soon dropped out and only denim was used, even though duck came in brown, and indigo. -

Levi came out with the first womens ine for jeans.The fabric was softer, and it came pre-shrunk. These jeans were very high waisted and had a pinched waist. Even though the men's jeans stayed basically the same, women's sense of style was changed forever. -

When more people wanted jeans, they were in high demand. DIfferent dying and shrinking processes were used. Most of the jeans that were made by Levi were straight legged and dark wash. These jeans had beltloops which were the only way of adjusting the jeans. -
Hippie Fashion
WIth style changing dramatically, hippies were a huge influence in the fashion industry. Bell bottom jeans with different patches, and fringes wee very common.Clothing items that were handmade were quite prized during this time. -
Jeans go to Vogue
This was not the first time jeans were in Vogue. They were first featured in the magazine in 1935. Michaela Bercu, who is on that month's cover was not planned to be wearin her stonewashed Guess jeans. In fact, nobody expected her to even be on the cover. -
