The Start of The Great Game.
The Great Game started in 1814.The Great Game was a compitition for a piece of land/territory.This was a disagreements between Russia and the British. The Great Game happened in a period of fear and where Britain and Russia couldn’t trust each other throughout most of the 19th and early 20th centuries. -
Why This Happened?
Before anything there was a big gap between Russia and Britian. So, in 1856 The Treaty of Paris in the United States made Russia think about conquering Southwest Asia. -
Moving Southward!
Around May 1864 Russia started moving south and started conquering land and wars were happening, around this time the British started getting scared because of what might happen to them in the future to their countries. Britain wanted to stop it before the russians got to india. The British cared more and thought that India was more important than any other country they had. -
Expanding.
Around 1884, Russia was expanding! this was making The Brittish very worried now. This brought some crisis but not a lot. But Russsia still continued south to conqure the rest of Central Asia. -
The Anglo-Russian Agreement
On August 31, 1907, The Anglo-Russian Agreement was signed. This confirmed existing boundaries in Central Asia. -
Stop!
The Russians eventually wanted to resolve their problems with the United Kingdom. In 1907, both sides agreed to stop the Great Game competition by agreeing to the Anglo-Russian Convention on August 31. -
Still going on Today!
it is still going on today, but it is going on in afaganistan, Russia and Britain are no longer fighting over land, it is just afaganistan fightiing over land or a peice of territory. Also they have made a book over The Great Game if you would like to read it.
