    Stephen and his cousin Jackson hear that the bombing has stopped and go up to the roof. Using a crystal radio they hear what sounds like German. Next thing they know the Germans are bombing again and the door leading downstairs is locked.They hide under a vent but Jackson freaks out, running out of safety when a bomb hits near them. Jackson gets thrown off of the building into the destroyed church graveyard below...... dead.

    LIving in London is becoming too dangerous ,so his mom makes Stephen leave London to go live with his father. Stephen is by himself on a truck in New Mexico going to a place called Los Alamos. Stephen's dad is working there, helping some guy with a huge secret project. Stephen is told by officials that he can't talk to anyone about Los Alamos or else it is treason of the U.S.A.
