    Introduction
    In the very early times of the world,there was a man named Deucalion, he had a beautiful wife called Pyrrha. Deucalion was the son of prometheus, the man punished by Jupiter for showing men how to live well. Jupiter, fearing men with the'r new knowledge would rise up against the gods he send diseases and cares into the world. this caused men to become wicked and evil.

    One day, when Deucalion went to visit his father, Prometheus warned him that jupiter, being extremly displeased with men and their ways, was going to send a great flood that would kill all the people. he told him to prepare a boat so that when the day came he could take his wife with him on his boat so that they would be safe.

    Deucalion and Pyrrha sailed in the boat for a very long time so long they didn't know the length of the journey. Everywhere they looked, all they could see was water. all the people had definetly drowned.

    When finally the waters dryed up and Deucalion and Pyrrha were able to walk on dry land, they realised how lonely they would be. for there was no humans left but themselves. While they talked about what they should do next, mercury, the messenger god appeared until them. he asked them is there was anything that they desired. "what we would like is to see people walk on the earth once again." they said.

    “Go on down the mountain,” said Mercury, “and as you go, cast the bones of your mother over your shoulders behind you;” and, with these words, he leaped into the air and was seen no more."what do u think he meant?" said Pyrrha. "well, the earth is our mother, so let us walk along throwing the stone of the ground behind us." replied Deucalion. so that is what they did and the stone that they threw became people.

    When at last they reached the plain they found themselves at the head of a noble company of human beings, all eager to serve them.
    So Deucalion became their king, and he set them in homes, and taught them how to till the ground, and how to do many useful things; and the land was filled with people who were happier and far better than those who had dwelt there before the flood. And they named the country Hellas, after Hellen, the son of Deucalion and Pyrrha; and the people are to this day called
