Congress passed a tax on the sale of ehiskey products. This anger farmers and lead to violence and burning down of buildings. Washington sent a group of soldiers to stop this. -

Pinckney's Treaty
Spanish leaders were nervous that the U.S and Britain would start working together, so the U.S sent Thomas Pinckney to Spain to work out a solution. The Treaty gave Americans free navigation of the Mississippi River and the right to trade at New Orleans.

President Adams sent a team to Paris to try to resolve the dispute with America and France. Instead France officials refused to meet with them and sent 3 agents to meet with the team and demand a loan. The three agents names start with an X,Y,and Z. Increased the amount of time it took an immagrant to become an american citizen. -
VA and KY Resolutions
Thomas Jefferson wrote the Kentucky Resolution while James Madison wrote the Virginia Resolution. The resolutions were regarding the Alien and Sedition Acts. -
Election of Thomas Jefferson
This election was the 4th presidental election. Thomas Jefferson was running against John Adams. Jeffersons running mate was Aaron Burr. Thomas Jefferson was running for the Demecratic-Republican party. -
Lewis and Clark Expedition
The government chose Lewis to guide a two- year expedition to the Pacific Ocean. Lewis wanted Clark as a partner on this expedition. The two mean went through harsh weather and journaled new animals, plants, natives, and foods they ran into on the way. -

Election of James Madison
James Madison was the 4th president of the U.S. Madison ran againt Charles Pinckney. Before he ran Madison served as Secretary of State.George Clinton was also a cantidate. James Madison won the vote with 144 from the Democratic-Republican party. -

The Star-Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key. The lyrics come from the poem "Defecne of Fort McHenery." It was written during the Battle of Fort McHenery in 1812 and is now America's national anthem. -

The Hartford Convention was a meetings held by the represntatives of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. The meeting was held to discuss the impact of the War of 1812 on the economy. -

The Treaty of Ghent was the peace treaty the ended the war of 1812. The treaty made it so tht there was no lose in territory for both sides. -
Battle of New Orleans
The Battle of New Orleans was between America and Britain. Britain probably had the mightest army in the world at that time and America's Army was weak and out numbered during this battle. Britain wanted New Orleans because it would give them control of the Mississippi River. -
Rush-Bagot Treaty
The Rush-Bagot Treaty was when Great Britian and America had an agreement for Britain to get their fleets out of the great lakes.
