    Han Dynasty

    The Han dynasty was the second imperial dynasty of China preceded by the Qin dynasty and succeeded by the Three Kingdoms period. The Han dynasty is a period considered the Golden Age in Chinese history. It was founded by the rebel leader Liu Bang, known as Emperor Gaozu of Han,This Han dynasty is divided into two periods: the Western Han or Former Han and the Eastern Han or Later Han

    Tribute System

    Network of trade and foreign relations between China and the rest of the tributaries Consisted of a mutually-beneficial economic relationships. Member states of the system were politically autonomous and almost in all cases independent. Deeply influenced the culture of the peripheral countries and also drew them into a China-centered, or 'sino-centric', international order (whole purpose of the system). The system shaped 2000 years of Imperial China's economy and culture.

    Confucianism

    Confucianism: a tradition, a philosophy, a religion, a humanistic or rationalistic religion, a way of governing, or simply a way of life adopted by the Chinese. Confucianism developed the Hundred Schools of Thought from the teachings of the Chinese philosopher Confucius (551–479 BCE), who considered himself a retransmitter of the values of the Zhou dynasty golden age of several centuries before.

    Tang Dynasty

    Tang dynasty, Chinese dynasty that succeeded the short-lived Sui dynasty (581–618), it is know for developing a successful form of government and administration on the Sui model, and for stimulating a cultural and artistic flowering that amounted to a golden age.

    Ming Dynasty was the ruling dynasty of China for 276 years from 1368-1644). After the collapse of the Mongol-led Yuan dynasty the Ming Era establishes what is known as one of the greatest eras in terms of government and social stability.

    The Qing Dynasty officialy known as the Great Qing or Qing Empire was the Manchu dynasty, the last imperial dynasty of China. It was succeded by what we know now as the Republic of China. The multu-cultural empire lasted 3 centuries forminf territorial base fo the modern chinese state.

    The First Opium War lasted 3 years and it was concluded by the Treaty of Nanjing in 1842, where it eas established that Hong Kong will be ceded to United Kingdom, apart of five established treaty ports at Shanghai, Canton, Ningpo, Fuchow and Amoy in trade terms.     During the Second Opium War also known as the “Arrow War” the british fought for the legalization of opium in order to expand coolie trade in order to open China to British merchants. France joined UK into the war against China. There was a second treaty of ports where different foreign powers have power within the ports.

    Japan and China signed the firt East Asian Treaty based on Western International law.

    The treaty declared Korea an “autonomous state”, terminating traditional relations between Japan and Korea in favor of Westernized relations, and interaction increased maredly

    The First Sino-Japanese War took place in the years 1894.1895. The war was fought between the Qing Dynasty and the Japanese Empire over the influence in Korea. The loss of the port Weihaiwei forced the Qing government to sue for peace in February 1895.
  • Taft-Katsura Agreement

    The secret 1905 Taft-Katsura Agreement brought about
    Washington´s acceptance of Tokyo´s hegemony over Korean Peninsula in return for Tokyo´s acceptance of American hegemony over the Philippines as well.

    The Second Sino-Japanese was a continuation of the First Sino-Japanese War from 1937-1945 between The Republic of China and the Japanese Empire. It all started with the Marco Polo Bridge Incident that turned the dispute into a battle ending with the surrender of Japan to the United Nations.

  • Pearl Harbor

    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor on Hawaii Territory on the morning of December 7, 1941. The attack led the US to entry the World War II. For Japan it is a crucial event because it marks the end of Japan´s Imperialism.

    Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    United States dropped nuclear weapons on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, 1945, respectively. Due to the fact that Japan did not want to surrender to the Allies on the Pacific War. The bombing caused the death of 90,000–146,000 people in Hiroshima and 39,000–80,000 in Nagasaki.
