Introduction Part 3
These movies were also just starting out, meaning the funding they had and profits they made were much smaller than the millions of dollars received today. Also, certain costumes and materials used today were yet to be discovered for these superhero suits. Although their looks may have changed, the majority of the time, the storyline of these characters we all know and love remains. If anything, the characters have become even more admirable than ever. -

Introduction Part 1
I have chosen to display my virtual exhibit in the form of a timeline. My timeline represents the physical changes that have been made to superheroes over long periods of time. The timeline is diachronic, showing the drastic change made over time, while also representing the characteristics that were kept or similarities found. As one looks at the timeline and virtually travels through the years, they can recognize the overall development. -

The photos also show how even the different characters were all portrayed at very similar levels then, and all into more upgraded versions now. These representations go beyond just a creator's “ideas” but involve rather more complicated techniques to bring them to life. Things such as software, film cameras, graphics and editing all involve technology, which simply did not compare in the 1900’s. -

Introduction Part 4
Children look up to them and are amazed by their appearances. The shiny suits, big muscles, extravagant capes and accessories all help to create a huge part of the experience. As humans, we naturally love things that appeal to the eye. I would say that the newer characters tend to create that sense or feeling, more so than the older ones. After all, the better the appearance, the easier for the actor to really understand and live out their role. -

Introduction Part 5
In today’s society things are constantly changing and evolving that people must keep up with. This includes the movie/comic industry and the characters they have created within DC and Marvel. This exhibit is the perfect way to show superhero development with images, easy to read captions, background information and even video Gifs. -

Introduction Part 6
I hope that this superhero background is surprising while also intriguing and properly informs people of this evolution. The overall purpose of my exhibit is to not only showcase these changes, but help the audience appreciate the growth, modern viewpoints and technological advancements that all went into creating and progressing these characters. -

The Original Batman
Adam West played the role of Batman in 1966. In this picture you can see him wearing a light grey suit and yellow belt. He has matching gloves, his cowl cover and his bat symbol in the middle of his chest. His cape, an almost blue tint and his body resembles a normal well-built man. This shows how purely human the character still looked, while really playing an amazing superhero. -
The Original Hulk
The original version of the Hulk is quite different from todays. He was played by Lou Ferrigno in 1978. Here he is seen painted in green from head to toe, along with green hair dye for some effect. He is very muscular, almost comparable to a body builder, which the actor was! However he looks more like a green giant as opposed to the great Hulk. This is another example where you can still see more human qualities on the outside, even if it was unintentional. -
The Original Thor
We can see many details within this photo. Thor is wearing protective armor to shield himself from his lower body to head. He also has on very unique fuzzy like shoulder pads which add to his overall look. In his hand he holds one of his hammers also formally referred to as Mjolnir. You can also see his hair sticking our from beneath his helmet. He almost looks viking like and not much sticks out aside from his costume. -
The Modern Hulk
34 years later...The Hulk has definitely changed. He has become a much more animated character and the hair has stayed darker. You can see some of his features have changed as well, with smaller parts of his face making up his large head. He has gained more muscle and is also a new shade of green. This version of the character looks nothing like a human and more similar to a beast. He has changed drastically over time. -
The Modern Thor
After 39 years...a lot has changed, yet also remained. Our modern day Thor is played by Chris Hemsworth. He no longer has shoulder pads, but has replaced them with his red cape. His signature golden locks of hair have stayed. You can see his still carries his signature hammer, which has also grown in size. This version looks more manly and his outfit has been modernized to fit our time. -
The Modern Batman
I think Batman's evolution might be the greatest of them all, with a 50 year time gap. He no longer has yellow included or his symbol on the chest. His colors have all turned black, creating a more mysterious appearance and darker side to him. He looks almost futuristic and is much larger than before. It is the type of look that truly grabs the audiences attention from the start. -
