    When the Election Process first began around the late 1700's it was discussed in the Constitutional Convention which laid out a map of what the whole process should be run. Then came the 12th Amendment in 1804 which was a new procedure to electing the President and Vice President... but this innovative way still had the loopholes for corruption within the government.

    As the Civil War ended in 1865, the people thought more about the government and how they really were working and a man named John Dewey which was a Progressive thought the people were crazy to think they had rights. He said that the rights Jefferson once said was something people reached not just handed to them by birth.

    During the Progressive Era, corruption in politics was at a all time high so what did people do? They targeted the bosses and the political machines of the system. Everyone joined in to protest and get their beneficial rights back, so they had innovative leaders helping out with taking them down for good.

    With the election process being turned more for the people, it was also at a time that America fell at a Great Depression in 1890's the government had to step up immensialy. They passed acts and ways to improve their economy like lassiez faire, which helped the economy and showing who the real heros were during this time.

    What was the main problem?
    The problem per say was when World War 1 ended in 1918 and the people did not want to deal with the reform for the political process because they were entering a state of political conservatism. Of course this was not the start of the problems, no, that was more near the beginning of 1900 when the reforms wanted to be changed on making it more with the people choice.

    This act was made in 1913 which was passed by Congress that made a centralized governed bank. It was used to make and have them use notes which is now like the dollar but it was a new act passed in order to take down the big corruptions.

    The Primaries
    Around 1910's, they had a amendment published that helped the people move away from the bosses and move towards the primaries. It was an innovative process made because they had more say in the elections rather than the big bosses saying all the calls.
