    The Berlin Blockade was an attempt by the Soviet Union. They wanted to limit the resources and supplies received by the allies in Berlin.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    Russia closed all highways, railroads and canals because they wanted Berlin all to themselves. They figured this would cut the people living there, of food and needed supplies. Then, resulting in the US, France, and Britain leaving Berlin. The Allies solution was to fly the needed supplies into Berlin by plane, this became known as the Berlin Airlift.

    United States and 11 other Western nations formed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, because these countries wanted to stop the futher expansion of communisim.
