  • The Atomic Bomb - Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    The Atomic Bomb - Hiroshima/Nagasaki
    The atomic bombs were first created and dropped by the U.S. on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which put an end to WWII. The Soviets were very upset with the atomic bombs power because the Soviets army would be no match for the atomic bomb.

    The Iron Curtain was the dividing of Europe of The second world war was over. The eastern side of the Iron Curtain were those who supported the Soviets and on the western side were those who supported the U.S.

    A plan of economic assistance to all countries in Eastern Europe. Marshall gave 12 billion dollars to all these countries to grow there economies and not starve.
  • Berlin Blockade

    Berlin Blockade
    The Berlin Blockade was one of the international crises of the Cold war. The Soviet Union blocked off railway, road and canal access to Berlin. This left people starving and some homeless.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    The Berlin Airlift which had lasted for over more than year and had dropped about 2.3 millions tons of cargo and supplies into West Berlin for the people that are stuck.

    The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was concluded of 29 member states. This was an agreement to if one was at danger the alliance would need to help.

    The Battle of Dien Bien Phu was specifically to flush out the Vietnamese. The battle was between the French and the Vietnamese communists.

    Several nations held a conference in Geneva, Switzerland. This conference was to settle issues that came from the Korean war. Nations ended up adopting new proposals and declarations.

    This treaty was signed by the Soviet Union, 7 other Soviet states and Eastern Europe. This pact was also known as the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutal Assistance

    This was an uprising revolt against the communist regime. Students began to march through and protest. As one student died that began the revolution against the communist.

    As the Soviets shot down an US U2 plane that collapsed the summit conference in Paris with the Soviet, US, UK and France. The Soviets saw the recon plane as an "agressive act" and followed to shoot it down.

    John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the united states, was assassinated in a motorcade while riding with his wife. JFK's killer had acted alone on this ambush. This devastated tons of people.

    The bombing was held by the 2nd Air Division and later on the seventh air force. This was during the Vietnam war. This was against the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

    Northern Vietnam had launched an attack on Southern Vietnam. This was a surprise attack on the there military forces and civilian control throughout Southern Vietnam.

    Martin Luther King a civil rights leader was shot at while he was staying at a motel. Later on pronounce dead. MLK pushed and motivated all blacks around him

    RFK a presidential candidate was wounded mortally after midnight and later pronounced dead after 1 in the morning. RFK had just finished a speaking as he was shot on the way out. Thousands were shocked.

    Five Warsaw pact countries decided to invade Czechoslovakia. 250,000 warsaw pacts had invaded and had killed czechoslovakian civilians and wounded hundreds.

    At a massive protest at Ken State University there were shootings upon unarmed college students. In 13 seconds and 67 shots there were 4 students dead and 9 others wounded.

    Nixon's visit with Chinese was very very important. This was the first time a US president had visited the PRC. Nixon used these visits to gain more leverage on the Soviet Union.

    A peace treaty was signed to have peace in Vietnam and therefore end the Vietnam war that suffered many casualties. And now today they are one of our greatest allies.

    Ronald Reagan traveled to West Berlin to give his 'Tear down this wall' speech to the people. Reagan called out Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin wall.
