Going up North to go fishing with the family was one activity a teen would do on the weekends. Homework was always something to catch up on. Hanging out with the neighborhood friends and going for walks were some other activities. Teens would go to church on Sunday mornings with their families.

Classical, waltz, polka are some of the genres that were popular during this time. Usually these are songs that are easy to dance to. Among some famous artists are Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Perry Como.

Cameras were popular as technology advanced. These cameras were far from digital, because they required film!

Helping around the house, doing the dishes, laundry, making the beds. Schools would let children out for "Potato Vacation" so they could help their parents or relatives on their farms.

On a black and white television "I Love Lucy" was one of the popular shows. News programs were also aired on the TV.

Lipstick and perfume were among the popular products in the 50s. Also, teens used to have bicycles to ride on, and was the "cool" thing to have back in the day.

Ice cream parlors seemed to be a common place for teenagers to go in the 50s. Places like "Schoeps" in Southern Wisconsin as well as "Fisher's Dairy" in Stevens Point were popular places to go and get a malt!

Beer bars were the main place to go on dates when the drinking age was 18. Even though it was popular, it wasn't always the best place to go.

Dressingup was a must when going to Church, Girls must wear skirts to church. Jeans were only worn around the house. You also had to dress up for school, with plaid skirts and matching shirts to go with them.

Colored TV was becoming a newer product, owning a cassette tape player was a cool thing for teens to have. Having a radio in your room was just too cool!

Rebellious behavior included drinking underage, smoking marijuana, and doing drugs.

Patterned shirts, bell-bottom pants, shirts with a zipper and a hood were of fashion for teens during this time. It might look funny now, but back then it was awesome!

Alternative rock and pop rock were popular genres of music to listen to during this time period. This was also the time during the start of "gangster rap". Some of the teenager's favorites were Third Eye Blind, Nelly, Jay-Z, and the Black Eyed Peas were just starting to become popular.

Rebellion in today's adolescent's eyes is doing things without the parents knowing or approving, doing drugs or alcohol, skipping class, breaking the rules at home or at school.

Clothing and fashion always seems to be a constant change, especially among young adolescents. Teenagers these days said that skinny jeans, crop tops, ear cuffs, converse, and comfortable-fitting clothing are popular in today's society.

Adolescents these days are involved in a variety of different activities. Some of which are sports, music, dance, horse back riding, NHS, and school clubs.

Most of the teenagers I interviewed have a job at a local restaurant, or have a summer job. Having a job was their choice, or was at least expected of them by their parents.
