    Europe is a very important day because on May 8,1945 the Nazi army surrendered,throughout Europe giving victory to the United States and Great Britain especially. This day was celebrated as a public holiday becoming part of the victors culture.
  • The Red Scare

    The Red Scare
    After the Cold War, fear ran throughout the U.S of communist sympathizers called the red scare. This was an important event because this caused senator McCarthy to lead a man hunt for suspected American communist sympathizers. This is in the economic category because many people who were accused of this crime were longer to get jobs.
  • The Soviet Union has nuclear weapons

    The Soviet Union has nuclear weapons
    In 1949 the Soviet Union had developed nuclear weapons after the United States.Continuing in competition,by 1953 they both had developed hydrogen bombs.These events are important because they show how far both sides were willing to go to win the war,which would have left both parties at a stalemate.This was a scientific and technological move because it takes great strides in science to advance the use of technology, especially weapons of mass destruction.

    This was an important event because his abuse of power finally came to an end. This allowed for better leadership,for example Nikita Khrushchev he publicly "denounced Stalin and maintained the Communist's Party political control, but closed prison camps and eased censorship". This was a political move to get the people on his side by changing the way they see the government.

    The Berlin Wall was built
    On August 13, 1961 the Berlin Wall was created as political move to separate the democratic West Berlin and the communist East Berlin. This day was important because it was a safe way to cut the tension literally between the people with different ideals.
  • The Cuban Missile Crisis

    The Cuban Missile Crisis
    This was an important event because JFK possibly stopped nuclear war. During secret surveillance of Cuba and the Soviet Union the U.S discovered medium sized missiles being built. This was a militaristic action because the U.S wanted to secretly be ahead of their enemies, and once they found out about the missiles they used naval force to get them to dismantle the missile bases.

    The Berlin Wall is Toppled
    On November 11, 1989, the East Germany Communist Party announced to the East German citizens that they could cross the border whenever they pleased. This day was very important to public because it was the end of communist rule and it really allowed for a true democratic government. The reason behind the fall of the Berlin Wall was a cultural and social move to reunify the people in a positive way throughout Germany.
