Grant begins the bombardment of Vicksburg Mississippi. Vicksburg lasts before the thread holding the two halves of the confederacy is finally split.

Lee attempts to invade Pennsylvania and break the morale of the Union. At Gettysburg Hooker catches him and a massive battle begins. Arguably the Confederacy's chances of winning died with Picket's charge.

Grant begins to thrust into Virginia after several battles he gets stuck at Cold Harbor, and a long bloody stalemate begins.

Grants attempt at taking Richmond is stalled once again at the seige of Petersburg. Thousands of men die before Grant moves on.

Sherman reaches the city of Atlanta, setting up his March to the Sea. The capture of Atlanta greatly increases morale in the North.
