Rumors
Rumors that King Louis XVI is going to use military force to stop the development of the national assembly. These rumors started spreading throughout the public of France. This causes many people to be scared and want to do something about this matter. -
Gathering
People gathered together in preparation to storm the bastille. They don't formally gather together in groups but they all come towards the same area. They don't have any strategy or much preparation so they are just all going to rush in and try to take over the Bastille. They do bring what they have like some weapons but not much compared to the guards. -
The Attack
The citizens begin to attack the Bastille. After hearing these rumors, the citizens of France want to act quickly. They want to prepare against what could be a military attack. So, they storm an old prison now used as a military base to gain an advantage. -
Violence Begins
The citizens infiltrate the Bastille and start to kill the guards which ignite the violence. Once they have gotten near/entered the bastille, the people with and even some without start to kill the guards to get into the building. This ignites the violence and the guards really start to fight back against the intruders. -
Ammunition and Weapons
The citizens get into the Bastille and start taking ammunition like gunpowder and also guns. They are storming the Bastille in fright of King Louis attacking, so they want to gain some type of military advantage. The Bastille isn't very heavily guarded so the people think that they can outnumber the guards and take what they need. -
Guards heads
The people behead the guards and put them on pikes to be paraded around the streets. They are killing many of the guards and have almost fully captured the Bastille by now. They behead the guards and parade them around in a sign of protest and power. -
The Governor is captured
Governor De Launay is captured by the people and eventually beheaded. He is at the Bastille at the time and the people kill him very slowly by stabbing him many times before his death. He is then beheaded and paraded around the streets like many of the guards. -
The Bastille is going down
The citizens start to tear the Bastille down brick by brick after fully capturing it. They have fully captured the Bastille and got the weapons, ammunition, and items that they needed. They then start to tear the Bastille down brick by brick instead of just using explosives. -
Celebrations begin
The citizens have celebrations from taking over the Bastille. They have done what they wanted to do and were successful. The celebrations begin all over the area. -
The Bastille is no more
The Bastille is has been fully torn down and is no longer standing. The citizens have fully prepared for the King Louis attack and are ready for him to make a move. The celebrations have started to die down and the people are going back to their lives.
