    Due to discontent of the license fee and injustices, miners rebelled against the soldiers collecting the liceense fee. To avoid arrest, the miners, led by Peter Lalor, built a stockade to avoid arrest. They raised th Eureka flag, named after the Eureka Hotel in the stockade. Early next day, soldiers advanced on the stockade, killing miners. An inquiry followed.
