The Tang Dynasty was formed when after the emperor was assassinated Li Yuan (then the governor) took over and crowned himself ruler/emperor.

The Khmer empire was a powerful empire that at its peak, ruled over much of southeast Asia know now as Cambodia, Thailand, Laos and southern Vietnam. The empire lasted from 802 CE through till 1431 CE. The thought to be first ruler was a man called Jayavarman ll ruled for 33 years. The capital of the Khmer empire was Ankgor which at its largest scientists believe was one of the largest cities in the world. In current Cambodia the ancient temples are a popular tourist destination.
