    The Stamp Act was a direct tax on the colonist that required them to print on stamped paper produced in london with heavy taxes to help Great Britain raise money to pay troops returning from wining the Seven Years war and French and Indian War. This tax as well as others greatly decreased King George III's popularity in the colonies. Leading to the phrase "no taxation without representation".

    Boston Massacre (Choice)
    Began as a street scuffle between red coats and colonists where citziens began throwing rocks and snowballs until a soilder opened fire. This led to many dead colonists and pushed colonist to fight even harder for their freedom.

    After the passing of the Tea Act in May 1773, Colonist were left unhappy on the new tax on thier most consumed beverage. This lead to them boarding a ship from the East India Company, and threw overboard 342 chests of tea costing in todays money a million dollars into the Boston harbour

    The Intolerable acts were passed in 1774 after the Boston Tea party and enraged the colonist taking what they believed as basic freedoms from them leading to their organization of a first Continetal Congress used to protest.

    In 1776 the Second Continental Congress met in Philidelphia where Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence. The document declared The Colonies as thier own nation. Described the goverments role as a protector of citizens freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

    The Battle of Yorktown was an attack on the British By an American Army lead by George Washington allied with a French army. It was one of the last major land battles of the Revolutionary War where after Cornwallis's surrender and capture, led Great Britain to end the conflict

    On September 3rd, King George III signed the Treaty of Paris ending the Revolutionary War, making The United States an independent country
