    Enough State Legislatures passed the 18th amendment. The 36th state, Utah, passed the prohibition amendment to the constitution.

    In Febuary Congress proposed the end of prohibition. As more and more Americans favored the end of prohibition the support grew in Congress. The governmnet also saw this as a chance to make money because the country was flat broke.

    Mississippi finally ratifies the 21st amendment to the constitution. It was one of the last "dry" states in the country.

    Until 1987 Kansas had a ban on public bars in state lines. The state legislature finally voted to lift the ban and suceeded.
