  • US Invasion of Panama

    Starting on December 20, 1989, President Bush declared his invasion of Panama to take over the Panama Canal.
  • Passage of the Americans With Disabilities Act

    This act was a base of civil rights for all Americans with disabilities. Those disabilities involve any mental or physical afflicton that affects a major activity in any persons life and made discrimination of this illegal. It was substantially edited and had more effect on January 1, 2009.
  • Rodney King Beating / L.A. Riots

    In 1991 Rodney King was severely beaten by policemen when his car was tailed for almost 40 minutes for "speeding". King got good footage of the all famous L.A. riots, which people believe, led the police officers to illegadly follow and beat him.
  • Hurricane Andrew

    The Hurrican formed on the West coast of Africa on the 14th of August in 1992. It struck land on the 24th and killed 26 people, most being the homeless. To this day it is known as the second largest Hurricane to occur in the world.
  • US Soldiers in Somalia / Black Hawk Down

    Otherwise known as the Battle of Mogadishu, "Black Hawk Down" was part of Operation Gothic Serpent. This attack was meant to accomplish capturing the leaders of the Habr Gidr clan, led mostly by Mohamed Farrah Aidid.
  • Passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement

    The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was a trade pact for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. It got rid of all tariffs and trade restrictions between all three countries. It came into effect on January 1, 1994.
  • Bombing of the Olympic Park

    A devistating bomb dropped during the summer olympics by a terrotist by the name of Eric Robert Rudolph. 2 people were killed and just over 100 were injured. Eric Rudoplh's goal was to force a cancelation of the Olympics, that at the time were in Atlanta, Georgia.
  • Jon Benet Ramsey

    Jon Benet Ramsey, daughter of John Ramsey, was murdered on December 25th, 1996 in Boulder, Colorado, after her parents did not pay a blackmailed ransom threat mailed to them. It stated that if they did not pay $118,000, Jon Benet Ramsey would die. She was found deceased in the basement of their home. John Mark Karr falsely admitted to the murder, but so far the "real killer" has not been found.
  • Heaven's Gate Cult Suicide

    Heaven 's gate was a religious group in San Diego, California, that believed in UFO's. They believed, if they committ suicide their souls would be sent to a space ship and they would attain a "higher stage of developement." Three different groups simultaniously commitued suicide. On the 24th of March 15 people comitted suicide. On the 25th, 15 people, and on the 26th, 9.
  • James Byrd

    On June 7th, 1998, James Byrd was brutally mudered by three men in Jasper, Texas. Schawn Berry, Lawrence Russel Brewer, and John King took Byrd to a secluded area and beat him. They then tied his ankles to the back of a pickup truck and dragged him down 3 miles of country road. Byrd's head and one of his arms fell away from the rest of his body during the drive. Brewer and Berry were sentenced to death while King serves life in prison.
  • Murder of Matthew Shepard

    Matthew Shepard was a student at the Univeristy of Wyoming. He was beaten and tortured and left near Laramie, Wyoming. Matthew was admitted into Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado on October 6th and died 6 days later of severe head injuries on October 12th, 1998. Two men were arrested as his killers, and during the trial one said the reasoning was behind Matthew Shepard's sexuality, as he was openly gay.
  • Columbine Massacre

    At Columbine High School in Jefferson County in Colorado was attacked by two seniors, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. They shot and killed 12 students and 1 teacher, 24 people were severly injured while more were injured making their escape. Bombs were placed in the cafeteria and in surounding vehicle. Fire bombs were also used to prevent firemen and police force from accessing the building quickly. After the attack the two shooters killed themselves.
  • NATO Bombing in Yugoslavia

    A mission to end the Kosovo war. In total, NATO dropped 14,000 bombs and 2,300 missiles. Over 2,000 civilians were killed, including 88 children, and thousands more were injured.
