  • Foundress of Tenrikyo Born

    Oyasama, Nakayama Miki, was born in Yamato Province.
  • Founder Day

    In the early 19th century, foundress Nakayama Miki founded the religion of Tenrikyo. Miki was settled as Shrine of Tsukihi which marks the founding of the Teaching
  • Falling to the depths of poverty

    Miki gave her and her family's things since God commanded to fall into the depths of poverty since it will brighten the mind and open up the path to the Joyous Life.
  • Grant of Safe Childbirth

    The Grant of Safe Childbirth comes from the Jiba of Origin, where God, the Parent originally conceived humankind. Any woman who receives this grant and relies on God the Parent will undoubtedly experience a safe childbirth.
  • Place for the Service

    The Place for the Service, Tenrikyo community's first construction project, was completed in 1865. Miki resided there for approximately ten years until 1875, then moved to the South Gatehouse. In 1888, an extension was added to the south side, enclosing Jiba within the building, enabling its use as the Sanctuary until 1911, when it made way for the North Worship Hall.
  • The Teaching of the Service Begins

    The Service is Tenrikyo's most crucial ceremony, leading to single-hearted salvation. During the Kagura Service, performers reenact God’s creation of humankind and the world through symbolic hand gestures around the Jiba-Kanrodai. Through this service, the followers invoke blessings for universal salvation and the reconstruction of the world into a Joyous Life.

    After Miki's performance of Service, she unfortunately died.
  • Tenrikyo Church Headquarters

    While under Shinto's supervision, Tenrikyo Church Headquarters was established
  • First Overseas Mission

    Missionaries of Tenrikyo go to the Korean Peninsula
  • First Overseas Church

    Tenrikyo followers wanted to branch out so they established the first overseas Church in Taiwan and it is called Taichu Church.
  • Independence Day

    The Shinto Headquarters suggested that Tenrikyo could become an independent religion recognized by the government. Tenrikyo made five attempts before succeeding. To become an authorized independent religion, Tenrikyo had to organize its beliefs, structure its organization, and strengthen its establishments.
  • Restoration of Teachings

    The Service Begins to restore the Teachings right after World War II ended as well as establish faith.
  • Most latest establishment

    After many establishments in different countries, the UK Centre was established in the 21st century.
