These racquests evolved from the pallas. The pallas had a long handle and small head but the wooden racquets had shorter handles and bigger heads. Everything else stayed the same.

Howard Head replaced the wooden frames with metal ones which increased the surface area 50%. Many professionals didn't use these racquets at first because they believed they weren't as good.

The racquets needed to be made more efficient so they used a lightweight plastic and carbon fiber. The headsurface and frame thickness were basically the only things changed.
