Technologies Aiding in Household Management

    The radio receiver was invented in 1901, and it aided in getting information to people. I believe this helped in home managment because people could have radios in their homes and be notified of things go on around them, such as bad weather.
  • Vacuum Cleaner

    The first compact vacuum cleaner was invented in 1901 by Hubert Booth. I think that the vacuum cleaner definitely helped to aid in household management because it made keeping the home clean a much easier task. A dirty house could cause illness throughout families and a vacuum cleaner helped to keep the house cleaner.
  • Air conditioner

    Willis Carrier invented the first air conditioner in 1902. This most definitely aided in household management because it made daily life in people's homes much more bearable, especially in the hot summer months.
  • Model T Automobile

    Henry Ford invented the Model T in 1908. This was a huge deal for household management. Although this wasn't the first automobile, it was helpful for people in order to get from place to place.
  • Pop-Up Toaster

I think this aided in household management because it was a much more effective way of making food such as toast and toasting other things. I think that people definitely take for the granted the toaster, and that it is much more widely used than we think.

    The Band-Aid was invented in 1920 by Earle Dickson. I think this helped families in many ways because children are always getting hurt and getting cuts and scrapes. The Band-Aid helped to keep these injuries covered and more sanitary.

    The first television was invented in 1923 by Vladimir Kosma Zworykin. This helped with the management of children in homes I believe. This may be a good or bad thing, but I think that the television helped to keep children entertained so that the mothers and other family members could have time for other things. Also, the television helped to keep people in the loop of things going on in the world.

    Jacob Schick invented the first electric shaver in 1928. This helped with home managment because it allowed for women to give men haircuts with much more efficiency and it also saved time to allow for other things.
  • Scotch Tape

    Scotch Tape was invented in 1930 by Richard G. Drew. I know this doesn't seem like it would be a good thing for household managment, but I feel like it's definitely taken for granted. We use tape on a daily basis probably in order to repair things.
  • Microwave Oven

    The first microwave oven was created in 1946 by Percy Spencer. This definitely aided in household management because it made creating meals a littler easier.
  • Antihistamines

    Antihistamines were first used and this helped with household management because you were able to treat allergies and the common cold.
  • Telephone Answering Machine

    The answering machine was invented in 1950 by Bell Laboratories. I believe this helped people to be able to stay in contact with one another. Yes, you already have the phone, but when you can't reach your phone, leaving a message is useful.

    The first commerical computer was invented in 1951. This was a huge advancement for technology and really helped with household management because people could learn new things through the computer.
  • Super Glue

    I think that super glue is taken for granted, but I think that it has definitely helped in household management because people use super glue to fix broken or damaged things on a daily basis. This saves money because you are able to fix it instead of buying it new.
  • Videotape Recorder

    The videotape recorder was invented in 1951 by Charles Ginsburg. I think this aided in household management because people were able to capture memories of their families and make memories that they could keep forever. This was a nice management of time and for them to be able to share time together.
  • Saran Wrap

    Saran Wrap was invented in 1953. This seems to be something of little to no matter, but it helped to keep food good and make it last longer.

    Nonstick Pan was created to aid in the household management of cooking and baking.

    The first oral contraceptive being created was helpful in household management because people weren't having tons of kids that they could not afford to take care of. Therefore, kids were not being neglected due to this.

    The iPod was invented in 2001. This helped with household management because it kept children occupied.
  • Skype

    Skype was invented in 2003 and this helped with family who was away from the home for great amounts of time. They were able to stay in contact with their loved ones.

    Facebook was another way for people to stay in contact with one another when they couldn't be together at all times.
