    This was the year when the internet was born. The World Wide Web allowed for automated information and completely changed the way people were able to find answers both information and questions.

    This form of Windows was able to use a graphical operating system that would run on top of DOS. Unlike the older versions Windows 3.0 provided developers the ability to create much more intricate software.

    The first smart phone introduced a whole new realm of communication. This device was advanced and had not only touch screen, but email and app capability as well.

    Text messaging was a huge break through! Calling and waiting for an answer was no longer the major means by which people communicated. At this point, people could type a quick message in seconds and could potentially receive a response just as fast.

    The DVD was an upgrade from a VHS tape. They were and still are great because they are smaller and easier to store. The players that they are inserted into are as well. Today DVD's can even be inserted into some cars and computers.
