  • Sugar Act

    The sugar act taxed sugar and molasses. The tax was created to pay for the war. As a result of the tax the colonist created the slogan,"No taxation without representation". This slogan meant that the colonist shouldn't be taxed without representation in parliament, the British legislature. Another response to the tax was that a communication group named, "Commitees of Correspondence. That last thing the colonist did to protest was boycotting.
