In 2000 Tapestries of life came together as a family to see their dreams come true. They drew up a blueprint of the wonderful orphanage to come. This will be a dorm in the shape of a cross for 400+ children. A 50,000 square feet building on 27 acres of land in Guadalupe Mexico.
-
Tapestries of Life issued their first ever brochure
-
Before you knew it Tapestries went right into the dirty work to build the orphanage. From digging holes to putting up walls, the building project had begun.
-
Finally groups from all over the world came to help build the first walls of the orphanage.
-
A shop donated 36 thousand CD's to Tapestries of Life where they set up a shop on EBay as a source of income for the building.
-
Every single one of the walls have been put up, securing the building tight.
-
Once the walls were all bricked up and steady, the inside was their main focus. Stairs were being built, along with rooms and doorways. They could almost vision the children running through the halls with glee.
-
The Gathering room is where all the children will gather together to sing songs of praises and fellowship with one another.
-
Bunk beds will be inside every single room in the orphanage to house more children then there are rooms. These beds are not bought from any facy store or imported from some foreign country. These beds are being hand built by the hundreds of volunteers.
-
Every room is unique because of the magnificent artowrk on the walls fit for children.
-
Rooms have been furnished and blankets have been placed.
-
At the top center of the cross, special crystal windows were added so when the sun shines through it will create a sparkle throughout the inside of the building.
-
A beautiful stone stairway was finalized.
-
-
A 30 foot indoor waterfall was built
-
The ground breaking for the cafeteria.
-
A local advertising agency set up what is called Ghostligh Film Slam. This was to give local movie makers a chance to create a movie in 48 hours and all the money raised for the video showings went towards Tapestries of Life.
-
-
The building is up and running with fresh water, electricity, tiled rooms and a great atmosphere.
-
This is what the inside of the building looks like so far. Some finishing touches still need to be made. Allthough their progress has come along quite well.
