    The U.S. Constitution was signed in 1787. This is what keeps us all steady in the United States.

    Eli Whitney patent his Cotton Gin in 1794, a machine that quickly and easily seperates cotton fibers from their seeds. The fibers are made into clothing and other cotton goods. This made the demand for American slavery grow as the demand for cotton workers rapidly grew. This was a key factor in the outbreak of the American Civil War.

    The California Gold Rush was when people from all over the world came to San Francisco in search of gold. James Marshall found a golden nugget in a river close to where he lived. When the news spread that James found gold, people came to try to get rich quick. This was the start of the "Gold Rush". California's population went from less than 1000 people to 100,000 people during the peak of the Gold Rush. A total of two million dollars of gold was extracted during this historical period.

    September, 11, 2001, was a terrible day. The day the world trade center was attacked. Both towers fell on this day. Many bystanders were scared and wished they could help as they watched this all take place. Tis attack made us more aware about terrorists in the U.S.
