    In March of 1973, syria under the new Assad regime and egypt started a war with close by israel, a surprise attack to try to take over the country. They were quickly beaten back and defeated. In 1975 talks of a peace treaty are started with Israel and Assad promised a peace with the country of Israel.

    The Syrian milliary carried out artillery strikes against an area populated by the Arch-Conservative Muslim Brotherhood. Killing 10,000 to 25,000 people, most of which being civilians. This attack is commonly described as "The single most deadly attack by a middle eastern government on it's people."

    Bashar Al assad takes power after the death of his father. His election inspires a hope of reform in the people of Syria. Political saloons where people of private groups of like minded people could discuss their political view on issues.

    In clashes with the police claims the lives of seven police officers and fifteen civilians. The protesters managed to burn down the Ba'ath party headquarters, which is the political party Bashar Al assad belongs to. Bashar Al assad goes on record believing that the protests sprung from foreign influence.

    Early in the year over 14,000 Syrian refugees flee to Turkey and Lebanon. Israel announces plans to accommodate refugees in occupied lands. Jordanian sources report as much as 80,000 which starts to stretch the nations water supply to it's limits.

    Refugees Bleed from Syria Across the Modern World
    At this point there are 5,000 to 6,000 refugees leaving the country everyday. They are fleeing to countries like Jordan and Bulgaria. Bulgaria asks the Red Cross and EU for aid because it's refugee centers are filling and more assistance is needed.

    The United States begins airstrikes against ISIL targets in Iraq and Syria. These airstrikes create thousands of homeless civilians further advancing the refugee problem. The Unites States still has not welcomed nearly as many refugees as other countries like Sweden and Germany.

    Fake Life Jacket Factory Found in Turkey
    Turkish authorities find a factory producing fake life jackets. Police seize more than 1,200 fake life jackets. This raid of the factory came in the same week that more than 30 dead bodies washed up on the shores of Turkey.

    Turkish Cleaner Sentenced to 108 Years
    A cleaner for a Syrian Refugee camp in Turkey was convicted on sexually assaulting young Syrian boys in bathrooms. He admitted to the charges saying many others from the camp were involved and he paid the boys .75 to 1.5$ before assaulting them.
