    Susan's first works were in temperance movements. Back in the 1930s drinking was a big problem and many people started the temperance movement to help people stop.

    Susan finally meets Elizabeth after hearing about her from her parents, who went to one of her conventions. The two met at one of Elizabeth's meetings in Syracuse, NY. Once the two met they became friends and worked together.

She did contact a lawyer to make sure someone did back her up and understood what she was doing was legal. After Susan was arrested for voting 'illegally' she faced going to court, and was then pronounced guilty of voting illegally. She was fined 100 dollars, she said she would never pay it and she never did.
