Susan B. Anthony was born in Adams, Massachusetts

Her family was very active in the anti- slavery movement. Anti slavery quakers met at their farm almost every Sunday.

After teaching for 15 years she became active in temperance, but since she was a woman she was not allowed to speak at temperance rallies.She became friends with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and this led her to join the women's rights movement.

At the state teachers convention she calls for women to be admitted into better proffessions and recieve better pay. Also for women to be able to have commitee positions and a say at the convention.

With Elizabeth Staton they founded the society to reach their goal of getting the State legislature to pass a law limitting the sale of liquer.

She becomes an agent for anti slavery arranging meetings, making speeches, putting up posters, and distributing pamphlets. She encountered hostile mobs, armed threats and tings being thrown at her.

Largely as a result of her efforts, the law was passed allowing married women to own property, keep their own wages, and have custody of their children.

Susan B. ANthony and Elizabeth Stanton organized a Women's National Loyal League to support and petition for the Thirteenth amendment outlawing slavery. They campaigned for the full citizinship of people of any race, including the right to vote

Anthony continued to campaign for equal rights for all and attacked them in her newspaper The Revolution.

Anthony's newspaper is first published. It advocated for a 8 hour work day and equal pay for equal work. It encouraged immigration to rebuild the south and help settle the country.

The association drew up reports on working conditions and provided educational opportunities for woking women.

Served on the board of trustees for Rochester's state industrial school. She campaigned for the coeducation and equal treatment and opportunity for boys and girls

Anthony raised $50,000 in pledges to ensure that women would be admitted into the univesity of Rochester. In a last minute effort to meet the deadline she put up the cash value of her life insurance policy.
