    The once great British Empire became rubble after their economy went down hill. They did not have enough money to keep fihgtings, the US, so they ended it peacfully. That is why this type of devolution is economic. Fortunately for Great Britain, after losing the war, they gained a good trading partner. (that's us)

    Italy and Japan joined forces with Germany because of their desire to conquer new territory. Germany wanted to conquer all of Northern Europe. Italy was interested in conquering Southern Europe, and Japan was interested in conquering the islands of the pacific and mainland China and Korea.

    After WW2 Germany broke up into two countries due to political/ military reasons. The two countries were called the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) and the German Democratic Republic ( East Germany). They split up Germany to ensure that they wouldn't try and spread communism throughout the world ever again. Also, they were managing their resources so they ould help Germany, and to preserve the borders of 2 different cultures.

    Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, luxembourg, The Netherland, Norway, Portugal, The United Kingdom, and The United States were the founding countries of this political/military type of supranationalism. NATO helps with the security of Europe and The United States. All of the countries make descisions together about security issues in a variety of fields and to guarentee allied defense.

    Soviet Union, east Germany, Albania, Bulgaria, Czechslovakia, Hungary, Poland, and Romania signed a treaty called the warsaw pact. The warsaw pact stated that everyone who signed it has to help anyone who was a victim of foreign agression. This type of supranationalism is political/military.

    Since Hawaii hasresources that the US still need they wouldn't grant Hawaii independence, however, they did grant them autonomy, which lets them have their own government, but they are still a part of the United States. This is an economic type of devolution.

    The countries included in OPEC are Qatar, United Arab Imirates, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.This type of supranationalism is economic, since the purpose of this organization is to contol the prices of all oil products. They created this agreement to ensure that everything was fair and the price of oil is the same throughout all the countries.

    The founder, Egypt and the Arab League, along with many organizations such as PFLP and the Syrian-backed As Saiqa are in this cultural type of supranationalism for the purpose of becoming their own country.

    Acultural conflict in Nigeria between muslims and muslims, causing the Biafra war. The war started in 1967, and ended in 1970, when the people of Biafra surrendered and was taken back by Nigaria.
  • Czechoslovakia (Devolution)

    Czechoslovakia (Devolution)
    This country split into two countires called Czech Republic and Slovakia. Czechoslovakia broke apart because of economic reasons. The East side was influenced by Eastern Europe and therefore more industrialized than the west part of Czechoslovakia. The East side wanted independence because the west side semed to be going backwards economically and they didn't want to be dragged down with them.
