    The Great Depression resolved, once World War Two began. As jobs began to return, the women began to work as the men went off to the war. While the men were away in Europe fighting in the war, the women took over the factory and industry jobs that men would usually be in charge of. The women were providing the men at war with vital supplies and also keeping the economy alive.

    In early April 1935, the train carrying the on-to-Ottawa-trek strikers was stopped in Regina, Saskatchewan. The workers were on strike because they were not happy with relief camp conditions and how little money they were making. At the rally in Regina's market square, the federal government moved to arrest the ring leaders of the trekkers. The raid quickly turned into a battle between the trekkers, citizens and the police.

    Many women enlisted into one of the three branches of the Canadian military as the men went overseas to war in Europe. The women took different roles such as parachute riggers, lab assistants, truck drivers, coding technicians and many more. Both of the first ever women's Air Force and Army divisions were created in the summer of 1941 and the first women’s Navy division was established on July 31st, 1942.

    As more and more women began to enlist and train in different types of military platforms, this allowed more men to go overseas for the war and the women would then take over the men's previous jobs. In conclusion, three womens military branches were created between the summer of 1941 and the summer of 1942 including the air force, army and the navy. The women would take over the men's previous jobs so they could go overseas to support the war.

    Japanese internment camps part #1

    Japanese Canadians were a minority group in Canada, who were vastly affected by the Canadian government, especially in British Columbia. Japanese Canadians were either given the choice: to be deported, to relocate or to re-register as Canadians. Twenty two thousand Japanese Canadians were sent to internment camps, even though fourteen thousand of them were actually born in Canada. The Japanese internment camps were in place from February 24th 1942 to April 1st 1949.
