  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    It was a war between Britain and France over land west of the Appalachians. Britain had the colonist own their side and France had the Indians on their side. Britain ended up winning the war but because they had to much debt they created the Stamp Act to force colonist to pay taxes. This made the colonist angry so they decided to create their own country so the American Revolution began.
  • Proclamation Line 1763

    Proclamation Line 1763
    It was a Royal proclamation that was written after the French and Indian War. I was written and issued by King George III. The main purpose of it is to forbid any settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. It was created so that Britain could maintain a good relationship with the Native Americans because they sided with France during the war and they wanted them on to be on their side.
  • Sugar Act

    The sugar Act placed a tax on molasses, sugar, and other products. The colonist were not very happy about the Sugar Act. Fifty letters were written to parliament complaining about the Act so it was repealed in 1765 because of the complaints. But later they cast the Stamp Act instead.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This was an act created by Parliament to get rid of England war debts so they passed the Stamp Act on the colonist. This Act caused the colonist to be forced to pay taxes on every piece of paper they used to England to pay for the cost of the war. This made the colonist very angry because they were being treated unfairly so the decided they wanted their freedom from England and wanted to create their own country. This marked the beginning of the American Revolution.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    They were taxes for glass, led, paints, paper, and tea imported into the colonies. These Acts hoped to lower Britain's expenses by making the colonist pay. The Americans view this taxation as abuse of power and were angry about it. So parliament repealed tax on everything but tea which led to a temporary truce between the colonist and Great Britain but soon the American Revolution begun because of the unfair treatment with tax on tea. This caused the American Revolution to began.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    This was a street fight that occurred between the British soldiers and the colonist. The colonist were throwing snowballs, sticks, and stones at the British soldiers. This made them angry so they shot and killed five American colonist. After this massacre they imposed new taxes on them such as tea, glass, paper, paint, and lead.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The colonist did not want to pay taxes on the British tea. So the Sons of Liberty led by Samuel Adams showed Parliament how the felt about the Tea Act. These Men dressed up as Native Americans and border the British ship know as the Dartmouth. While they were own the ship they dumped out an entire load of tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    There were four intolerable acts passed by the British in 1774. They meant to punish the colonist for the Boston Tea Party an other protest. They were cruel and mean laws and their purpose was punishment for the colonist. Some examples of them are the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, and the Administration Justice Act. They shut down the Boston harbor and passed the Quartering act which meant the British could come into private homes. Martial law- rule by military force
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    They were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. They were fought in the Province of the Massachusetts Bay within the towns of Concord and Lexington. Paul Revere went to warn the two cities that the British were coming. The British troops came to take away colonial weapons but they ran into the angry milita. The very untrained army of colonist defeated 700 British soldiers it was a surprise that gave them confidence for the war ahead.
