Steps to Revolution

  • French and Inain War

    French and Inain War
    -The French and Indain war was a battle for control over North America.
    -The British wanted to get the French of their land, but the result was an all out war that started in the conies and spead all the way to India. The war was from 1754- 1763.
    -The colonist were very exicted when Great Britian won, because they expected to be allowed to move west of the Appilation Mountians.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    -The treaty basically divied North America in half. It also basically knocked France out of North America. It made everything east of the Mississippi River, Britian's and everything west Spain.
    -Britian did this so that they would have more land in the new wrold.
    -The colonist were extremly exitited to be going west to the Ohio valley.
  • Proclaimation of 1763

    Proclaimation of 1763
    -This forbided the colonist from moving west of the Appilation Mountains.
    -Britian did this because they did not have enogh protection and the colonist were not willing to pay.
    -The colonist were beyond mad at this piont, because they felt like they were being told what to do and were being restricted.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    -This taxed all imported goods that had sugar or molasses in it, and punished smuggalers.
    -The British put the tax on the colonised to pay of their dept from the French and Indain War.
    -Most of the colonist were not effected (It was mainly merchants), but it still angered the colonist because the were not used to having to do what the British told them.
  • Stamp Act

    -These taxed all paper.
    -The British were still having problems paying the dept.
    -The colonist were even angrier, because this one attacked all colonist. They reacted by boycotting it, and it was edventally repelled.
  • Writs of Assistance

    Writs of Assistance
    -This gave officers the premission to search ships for no reason.
    -This made it where the British didn't have to waste time with warents.
    -This act outraged mearchents, because now their ships were being seached.
  • Townshed Act

    Townshed Act
    -Placed taxes on all items needed to live and be comfterable.
    -They still needed money to pay off their dept.
    -The colonist once agian boycoted the act and got it repelled.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    • British soldiers had to stay with colonist, and the colonist had to provide them with food, houseing, and water. -The British still needed to save money so they stoped providing houseing for the soldiers and instead made the Quartering act. -They hated that there was nothing they could do about the soldiers.
  • Boston Massacrer

    Boston Massacrer
    -During a colonist riot, about 5 colonist were killed.
    -The British only did this to control the riot.
    -They got the 8 soldiers involed triled.
  • Tea Act/ Boston Tea Party

    Tea Act/ Boston Tea Party
    -Britian lowered their tea prices.
    -Britian wanted colonist who made their own tea to be cut out of trade, to maxamize their money.
    -The colonist reacted by the Boston Tea Party, the act that in which the Boston Sons of Liberty dressed up as native americans, and throw the tea into the Boston Bay.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    -These were a set of laws that made their lives terriable: A few of the laws were, no town meetings, the British blocked of Boston's harbor, and many more.
    -At this point the Biritish no longer just wanted money, but now they were after more control.
    -The colonist were becomeing very angery and began to unify.

    • The colonist tried to get Great Britain to abolish the Intolerable Acts.
    • The British had no idea that this was happening. -The colonist felt like they had to do this.
  • Battle of Lexington

    -The first shots of the revolution were fired here.
    -The British were only defending themself.
    -Some of the colnist were just sick of the British and sombody had fired a shot at one of the British soldier.
  • Concord

    -Concord was the second battle of the war.
    -The British were just fighting off america thinking that they would give in soon.
    -The colonist were fighting as hard as they could but lost for the second time.
  • 2nd Continental Congress

    2nd Continental Congress
    -the colonist were becoming serous about the revolution and made th Delcration of Independence.
    -Once again the British did not know about it.
    -The colonist were finally being serous about revolution.
  • Ft. Ticonderoga

    Ft. Ticonderoga
    -It was a battle that happened when the colonist saw the British repaing and reinforce the old French fort.
    -The British needed the fort for the war.
    -The colonist were angry and worried about the fort.
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    -The Americans were on Bunker Hill setting up a fort and the British came and out of the 2,200 soldiers sent 1,000 of them died.
    -The British were parinoed about the fort.
    -The colonist needed a fort.
  • Decleration Of Independence

    -The colonist were done with Britain and sent the "break up letter" to King George the 3rd
    -King George would not except this and now know how serous they really were.
    -The colonist were hoping theat the king would just let them be an independent nation.
  • Common Sence

    -Tomas Pain wrote the panflete Common sence to give his opinoun on the way America and Great Britain worked. He said it was bad that a small Island across the world controled the colonies.
    -The ritish were upset.
    -The colonist were ready to grab their guns and stand up for their rights.
  • Battle of New York

    -This is the battle which Washington was driven out of New York, and Great Britain took New York.
    -The British acually tried to capture George Washington
    -The colonist were very unhappy, expecaly the New Yorkers
  • Battle of Trenton

    -This is where we anbushed the Hessians.
    -Britain was probable incrediable mad.
    -We were exited, we finally somehow won.
  • Battle of Princeton

    Battle of Princeton
    -George was motived from the win at Trenstion, they head up the delware river into british territory in New Jersey and took yet another victory.
    -The British were infuriated.
    -The colonist thought they had a chance.
  • Winter of Valley Forge

    Winter of Valley Forge
    -A harsh winter that killed many of our soldiers and hurt our army.
    -I'm sure the British were mad because they probable lost alot of people to.
    -The colonist felt like they were losing a battle aginst nature.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    -The colonist were on a row and won Saratoga, and Ben Frankin got France and Spain to sighn the Treaty of Allaince.
    -The British were still strong but were probable beating themselfs up over losing to a ragtag army wanting independence
    -The colonist were exited that they had won three battles in a row and got a new ally
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    -This was the last Battle of the Revolution because we caught cornwallis.
    -The King was probable so mad, I would have loved to see his face when he heard his top general had been captured.
    -Super exicted, we won the revolution!
  • Treaty of Paris

    -The Piece of paper saying that Great Britain had to exept us as a independent nation, gave us all land east of the mississippi, we had to return all land we took from the loyalist, and that both countries would pay their own dept.
    -Britain had to be mad that they LOST to a ragtag team of farmers.
    -We were so happy that we wo our independence.
