Steps in the Electoral Process

    Campaining begins way before the election to get people interest in certain canidates. They also start fundraising!
  • Caucuses and Primaries

    Caucuses and Primaries
    Caucuses are when people represent their candidates and do speeches on their behalf. This is more commitment then primaries which are general elections. The six types of primaries are Open Primaries
    Closed Primaries
    Semi-closed – MA uses this type
    Semi-open
    Blanket
    Run-off
  • Political Party Conventions

    Political Party Conventions
    Delegates attend the National Conventions to cast their votes for a candidate. This is where they express their views and they act as election campaigns.
  • Election Day

    Election Day
    It occurs on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, and it's when everyone that is registered to vote goes to the voting booths and vote for who they believe should be president.
  • Vote of the Electoral College

    Vote of the Electoral College
    This is when all the elecctorals vote for who they believe should be president. Each state’s electors go to their own state capital to vote for President and Vice President.
