    The duration of the experiment
  • Prisoners rebel

On the second day, prisoners refused to follow the guard's orders and blocked the cell doors with their beds and took of their stocking caps. The guards had then reacted to this situation by abusive behaviour without any supervision from the staff. They asked for back up and once the prisoners were taken out, they were stripped and place into "the hole" which is a confinement room
  • A prisoner breaks down

Prisoner #8612 begs to leave since he can't cope with the dicrimination of the guards
  • Guard's create a "good room" for the prisoners

After the guards heard rumours of a liberation of the prison or a break in from prisoner 8612, the guards decided to use cell 3 as a "good prisoner room" which they selected three of the most obediant prisoners who didnt cause a lot trouble to stay in cell 3 which includes getting special privillages of better meals, mattresses and less work hours
  • Prisoner released

Prisoner 8612 was released because of mental and bizzare behaviour so he was forced to be released
  • Prisoner Hunger strike

Overall two prisoners went on hunger strikes, Prisoner 819 and newcomer 416. This then gave the consequence of the guards giving the choice of extra solitary confinement to other prisoners if he carried on his hunger strike which caused other prisoners to see him as a "trouble maker.
  • The experiment halted

Christina Maslach , a graduate student in psychology who dated Zimbardo at that time was introduced to the experiment for interviews didn't like the conditions of the experiment and objected to it. The experiment had to stop.
