Born Stanley Martin Lieber to his parents Celia Solomon and Jack Lieber. Born in the Great Depression, his family wasn't well off. He had to move with his family many times in his childhood.

Stan Lee Joined Timely Comics
Originally a small part of a publishing company, Timely Comics started off Stan Lee by filling inkwells and erasing pencil lines. Later on in life, as his comics became more successful, Stan Lee suggested that they change their name to Marvel, an idea that they took. -
Stan Lee Married his Wife
After only two weeks of dating, Stan Lee married Joan Boocock in the December of 1947. Joan was modeling hats in New York when they met. Almost 70 years later, they were still together.

The Fantastic Four Comic was Created
After a few years of getting fed up with company rules, Stan Lee decided to make the Fantastic Four as his last project. His new creation was published and people loved it. This kept Stan Lee from qutting his job.

Spider-Man was Created
After his boss dismissed the idea of a web-slinging superhero, Stan Lee debuted Spider-Man in "Amazing Fantasy." Amazing Fantasy was a grouping of short stories that Stan Lee created along with his artists. When it was released it was a huge success and the Spider-Man comic was continued.

The First Spider-Man Cartoon Was Aired
Based of Stan Lee's and Steve Ditko's iconic character, the show aired on ABC. It gave an intro the series to come which focused on Peter Parker's Daily Bugle conflicts. Over 5 months, 19 more episodes came out in the season. -
The Silver Surfer Comic Won a Eisner Award
While the character was made by Jack Kirby, this comic strip made by Stan Lee and Jean "Moebius" Giraud won in the "Best Finite Series/Limited Series" category. The Silver Surfer was created with the help of Stan Lee, and he first appeared in the 48th comic in the Fantastic Four series.

Stan Debuted in his first Cameo
In the episode, "Spider Wars Part 2: Farewell, Spider-Man" of the Spider-Man TV series, Stan Lee made an appearance as himself. Spider-Man met him and thanked him for creating him. He then made dozens of cameos in other shows and movies.

POW! is Founded
Created by Stan Lee and two close partners of his, this company created comics and TV shows. A notable TV show of POW!'s was Stripperella, an adult-themed cartoon. Other than that, POW! is not a very well-known production company.

Stan Lee Won the National Medal of Arts
Presented to him by President George W. Bush in 2008, Stan Lee won this for his many creations. The National Medal of Arts is the highest award given by the government for Artists.

Stan Lee's Wife Died
After 69 years of marriage, Joan B. Lee died from complications caused by a stroke. This left Lee devastated, he struggled with her death for a very long time. Only a year later, Stan met his own fate.

Stan Lee Died
At the ripe old age of 96, Stan Lee died in a hospital in L.A. He lived across a turn of the century, and watched the digital age begin. He lived much longer than many would have expected, and he lived his last years continuing to do what he loved.
