    Spiritualism was started by two girls that were known as the Fox sisters. They had created knocking sounds that were allegedly created by spirits.

    During this time people started doing spiritual activities. These activities were sitting for spirit photographs, spirit lectures, and would have seances to connect, speak, and see spirits.

    They started examining paranormal phenomena using rigorous and scientific methods to find things.

  • The sisters lie

    In 1888, the sisters had come out and said that they made everything up and nothing was true the whole time.

  • The Roman Catholic Church

    The Roman Catholic Church condemned Spiritualism

  • Lambeth Conference

    After researching, they used the results to start to encourage people to become spiritual and start following Spiritualism.

  • The Fraudulent Mediums Act

    This act was created to ban people to pretend to act as a spiritualistic medium for money or other rewards.
