    In 1774, to settle the public unrest of the province of Quebec, the British decided to grant them an autonomy, Since Canda was once a French territory, the main religion was Catholism and the main language was French. When the British got involved, the people of Quebec decided that they didn't want a Protestant country ruling them.

    Great Britain colonized what we know as America. We were part of England. We felt that we had the same right as England. But the British started abusing their power. This caused us to start the American Revolution. Many lives were lost in this war. When the war finally ended, England was broke. To solve this problem, the two warring countries negotiated the Treaty of Paris. This treaty stated that they would become trading partners and gaining America their independence.

    Although the beginning is unknown, the Irish wished for indepence from Britain. The reason for this that Irish people is mainly Roman Catholic, and they do not wish to be ruled by Protestants. They war ended with the Anglo-Irish Treaty in December 6, 1921.

    During WWII, Yugoslavia was a Communist country. In Yugoslavia, ethnic differences were often silent, because the gov't wanted a single race for a society. Someone who announced teir ethnicity was either banished or executed. When Communism ended, Yugoslavia disintergrated into: Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Bosnia.

    (Date Not Apply) Scotland used to be a territory of Great Britain. But when England joined the EU (European Union), they realized that they were getting the bad side of the deal. They believed that they could enter on to the EU by themselves since they had an extremely valuable resource, oil. England agreed to grant them autonomy. They didn't want to secede themselves from the British Empire though, because they would have protection from invaders. Now they receive a fair amount of money.
