  • The Enlightenment

    Time period: 17th – 18th Century
    Causes of the enlightenment:The thirty years war is the known cause for the Enlightenment phase. This was a very destructive war.
    Effects:
    The Enlightenment triggered independence. Allowed places all around the world to live in a democracy.

  • The Discovery Of Australia

    Time Period: Founded in 1770
    Cause of the discovery: In Britan there were too many convicts so they sent out a whole load of boats to sail around the world to find a place for settlement, anyone who wanted a fresh start in life were aloud to join aswell, thats when captain cook found Australia.
    Effects: The Discovery of Australia has resulted in years down the track a new home to many people, aswell as us right now.

  • Arrival Of First Fleet

    Time Period: first boats Arrived on the 26th of January 1788
    Cause of the first fleet: Too many convicts in Brittan and for the British to explore the world and see what would happen when the reached the end of the ocean in an eyes veiw.
    Effects:
    -Discovery for Europeans that there were more lands
    -Fresh start for people if they wanted to
    -place for convicts to go (over crowded in Brittan)

  • Smallpox Outbreak (1790)

    Just 15 months after the first fleet many aboriginies had died. Why you ask? It was due to the Smallpox Outbreak. The outbreak killed about 70% of aboriginies who were living in Sydney at the time.
    Effects of Smallpox:
    - Fever, Aching back, Aching bones and rashes

  • Boxer Rebellion

    From 1900-1901 Australia was reluctant to make trades with China. China was desperate for opium amoungst there large population who wanted some on demand. There was an opium war in 1839-1842 and 1856-1860 where Australia's home country Britain ended up agreeing with China to exchange opium for chinese goods. Australia liked the chinese for there cheap labour but else wear not for the diseases and opium addiction. Back in this time Australia was racist towards the Chinese.

  • Industrial Revolution

    Time Period: 1760-1840
    Causes of event: There was a major population growth than from previous years, there was new inventions of machinery, transport and technology.
    Effects:
    - More availability to food (factories)
    - Wrecked natrual resources and created pollution
    - More animals have became indangered

  • mile creek massacre

    Time Period: 1760-1840
    Cause of the event: 12 European stockman murdered and burned many erderly, men, women and children (28 in total) in bushes. They were later on hanged for there inappropriate and cruel behaviour.
    Effects:
    - Proceeded laws to protect Aboriginies
    - 1834 was when the first Aborigonie protection law came out
    -mid-1970s equal rights law for the Indeigenous was established

  • Outbreak of WW1

    World war one was a well known event all across the world that involved most countries in the world. Australia pledged co-operation alongside Britain before the war had even been declared, therefore, Australia was automatically envolved into the war. Australia was involved from 1914-1918. During that time their main battles included the Australian Navy fighting in various places and at Gallipoli where they fought alongside in teamship with troops from New Zealand, Britain and France.

  • Gallipoli Campaign

    Started and Finished- 25 April 1915 to 9 January 1916, Who fought- It was a war againt the Turkish and Allies. From the Allies side 480,000 people fought and more than one third were killed.

  • The gold rush

    The gold rushes had a major effect on australia's economy. It also had a big effect on the development of our economy. Mateship had been formed with the men who worked as gold diggers and in the gold mines. The goldfeild life is said to have the traits of greed, crime, self-interest and racism for the bad.

  • The French Revolution

    The French Revolution was during 1787-1799. In this time period citizens of France designed and changed things around in their country. The French Revolution occured after the American.

  • The Discovery of Electricity

    Several Europeans who were educated by a man also from Europe whose name is William Gilbert studied more and expanded there knowledge on it. In 1733 a man called Charles Francois du Fay had discovered that electricity came in to forms- Negative and Positive. Despite all that Benjamin Franklin is known as the father of Electricity as he was the first person to prove electricity could happen along with the help of fellow studiers.

  • The American revolution

    The American Revolution happened in 1 Jan 1775 - 1 Jan 1783. The American revolution occured because America wanted independance from England. The British government attempted to pass some laws, introducing several taxes, and increase more control over the colonies, the colonies didnt want this so it started a war.

  • Chinese Immigration

    The immigration occured avout 200 years ago. The first Chinese settler in Australia was in Sydney and goes by the name Mak Sai Ying. Australians let so many Chinese immigrate into Australia for there cheap labour offered and the fact that they were running short on Labourers. To this day the chinese are one of the largest immigrent groups.

  • Treaty of Versaille

    Treaty of Versaille was the peace settlement. The peace settlement was signed after World War One which was in 1919. 21 nation leaders had attended to veiw the signing and be apart. The total deaths in world war one was 8.5 million and 21 million were wounded.
