    Confederate victory gave South a surge of confidence, but shocked many in the North who realized the war was not gonna be so easily won as they thought.

    This Battle is also Known as The Battle of Pittsburg Landing, and lasted from April 6th to April 7th of 1862.
    The Confederate launched a surprise attack on the Union.
    After initial success the Confederate troops were unable to hold their positions they were forced back, leading in the victory of the Union. Both sides suffered heavy losses. The amount of violence shocked the North and South alike.

    It occured only about 10 miles northeast of Richmond, Virginia.... The Confederate Capital. More commonly known as Gaine's Mill.

    John Pope was on the side of the Union, George McClellan was on the side of the Confederate.
    John Pope and his battered up troops retreated to Washington.

    The battle of Antietam is STILL known as " America's Bloodiest Single Day." This battle was also the first battle of the American Civil War fought on Northern soil.
    Lincoln issued his Emancipation Proclamation.

    The actual beginin gof this battle was The 12th of December, 1862. And ended on the 13th of December, 1862. This battle had the largest concentration of troops in any Civil War.

    Union Gen. Joseph Hooker and his troops lost to Gen. Robert E. Lee, Lee's most trusted General, Gen. Thomas " Stockwall " Jackson, and the confederates troops.

    The Battle of Gettysburg went from the 1st of July to the 3rd of July in 1863. It was also considered the most important engagement of the American Civil War. Confederate General Robert E. Lee, and Union General George G. Meade clashed together and it caused a heavily violent and very bloody battle.

    General William Rosecrans troops pushed the Confederates out of Chattanooga. Rebels (the Confederates) forced Rosecrans to give way. Union won, But only because before Rosecrans gave way he called for reinforcements.... Ulysses S. Grant came with the reinforcements and so the reinforcements and Ulysses S. Grant fought in the battle. The battle lasted for over 2 days.

    From November 23 to November 25, 1863. The Union forces routed Confederate troops in Tennessee. The Union won and when the Union won the Confederate took that as a sign to run back to Georgia.
    Union General William Tecumseh Sherman led the Union troops to Georgia and followed the Confederate.

    This battle is more commonly known as the battle of Gaines' Mill. It took place only 10 miles northeast of the Confederates Capitol, Richmond, Virginia. This battle was the second of the 2 battles which were only 2 years apart. The Confederate won ... yet again.
  • Confederate General Robert E. Lee Surrenders

    Confederate General Robert E. Lee Surrenders
    Confederate Robert E. Lee surrendered his army to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House, Virginia.
    For more then a week Lee tried to out run Grant to the west of Richmond and Petersburg in Virginia.
    Lee arrived at Appomattox but his path was blocked. Lee had no choice but to request a meeting with Grant.
    They went to court and Lee surrendered. At exactly 2:00 p.m.

    Lincoln was shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth. Booth had different veiws about slavery than Lincoln did. Booth thought that Lincoln was going to destroy his (Booths) Beloved South.
    so while Lincoln was at the theater Booth shot Lincoln.
