Period 2 (1607-1754)

The first colony was located in Jamestown Virginia. This is important as the 12 colonies that followed afterwards would eventually revolt against the British monarchy.

New Amsterdam was established to act as the capital of the colonial government in New Netherland. It was a dutch colony This is a significant event because New Amsterdam would become New York city whih is the largest city in the US.
