    1963 companies started holding downhill competitions and freestyle skating nothing like skating today more like ballet on wheels

    1965 skating to a crash people though is was just another dumb fad like the hoola hoop companies stopped making skateboards and skaters had to make there own again but people still skated.

    1972 things changed when Frank nasworthy invented urethane skate wheels with turned heads of surfers again skating was back

    1975 in Del mar california the ocean festival had a skate competition that the zephyr skate shop team Tony Alva, Jay Adams and Stacy Peralta showed everyone what skating was all about with there insane moves and smooth transaction that nones has ever seen which made them loose but that day changed the style of skating forever

    1978 skating took another jump by someone named alan gelfand nicknamed ollie came up with the idea of slamming your foot down and jumoing with made him and the board pop up witch the ollie was born. ever since then people have found ways to throw their boards out from under your feet land on it and ride away it is one of the best sports in the world i think

    tony hawk has been doing cokpitions sense he was 14 and is now the most well know skater. he was the first ever to do a 900

    danny way holds the record for the longest air out of a quarter pipe 73 feet it was also over the great wall of china

    skating has come along way sense 1950 alot has happened and alot has changed. skating today is more complex and competive but everyone i know just loves it for the fact of it
