  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was a rule passed by Parlament to tax the American colonist more so they could pay off the soldiers placed in America. The colonist were very mad about the law. They had no say in Parlament, so they thought it was unfair. It was important beacause it was a huge event leading up to the Revolutionary War.

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was an event where Americans that were mad about British taxes dressed up as Indians and boarded British tea ships. Once they were on the ships, they began to throw the tea overboard. It was important because it was another major event leading up to the Revolutionary War.

    This was the war between Britain and the Americans fighting for freedom. This is important because if it wasn’t fought, we would still be ruled by Britain.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    This important event was the battle that started the war. Soldiers were ordered to destroy American supplies and weapons. They started at Lexington and ended in Concord. The Americans were defeated, but the British received losses too.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    One of the most important victories of the colonist, it was a battle not to be forgotten. It was not fought on Bunker Hill, though. It was fought on Breed's Hill. The British technically won the battle, but they suffered to heavily to benefits from it.

    Battle of Yorktown
    Being the last battle of the war, this battle has earned its place as a significant event. The Americans and French were fighting the British side by side. The British surrendered, losing the war. This battle resulted in the Treaty of Paris.

    This was a period of time when the northern states were fighting the southern states for the freedom of all slaves. It was a long war, but the northerners won, freeing the slaves ad reuniting America. It is significant because we may still have slaves today if it wasn't.

    The light bulb is an important invention. If not for it, we would still be using candles to light up places. It was invented by Thomas Alva Edison. He experimented on it, using gas to power the early stages of the invention. It has advanced since then into the light bulb we know today.

    The Wight Brothers first flight changed the world as we know it. Orville and Wilbur figured out a way to control planes, and because of that they were able to fly a plane successfully. If they hadn’t f done that, then we probably wouldn’t be able to fly planes today.
